Ghost shapes appear after using pathfinder tool

I have this weird issue where when I remove the C letter in the logo using the pathfinder tool, a weird shape appears in the  negative space in the adjacent H letter . When I look at the graphic in outline mode, the shape isn't there. Has anyone experienced this weird glitch before?

Try View > CPU preview

If that doesn't help, please point out the issue in your screenshots. I don't see it.

Does it go away if you turn on the CPU preview in the View menu (instead of GPU preview)?

Just note that the artifacts usually do not occur if you have a high quallity graphic card like Nvidia Quadro series or something comparable.
