Google drive not opening Illustrator files

My google drive used to open illustrator files in the "open with" tab. now that feature has gone away so i have to download the file in order to open an ai file. wheras in the past the "open with" would have an illustrator button that would automaticaly open the file in the illustator. The adoble cloud extension is apparently downloaded but I'm not sure how to get that feature back. Anyone have a solution?

sorry but this solution isnt informative enough for others like myself who are currently encountering the same issues. im on a m1 mac and first of all, i cant access files and folder successfully through FINDER.. i can navigate to the files on web drive but when i try to right click to open with illustrator, the .ai file doesnt allow me to do so. HOW do i get illsutrator back as an app that knows how to open .ai files?

Im not sure if this is helpful but i am hesitant to upgrade to Ventura because of the known issues with particular adobe apps. Currently on Monterey newest update. Might that be the issue? on M1?

I have the macbook pro M1 with monterey as well. all i did was reinstall 2 extentions in google chrome (opening ai files doesn't work on safari). the two extentions you need to have downloaded is the adoble creative cloud and the application launcher for drive! should fix your problems as it did mine!

What happens if you click that "+Connect more apps" menu item?

It brings me to the google workplace marketpalce/extensions where it says i already have adoble creative cloud installed. i tried reinstalling the extension and it still hasn't brought back the feature to open a ai file in illustrator
