Gradient controls lightenn and darken

I always have trouble getting my gradient colors to change light to dark and dark to light..  I am attaching a screen shot to show you the window that comes up.  When this window comes up how do you change your colors just a tiny bit lighter or darker without changing the color?   I don't see it in the sliders.

Hold down the command key on Mac

Then click hold and lightly drag any one of the 4 sliders

They will drag together as a result of holding down the modifier key.

Drop the triangle then release the modifier key

 

On windows I believe the modifier key would be CTRL
