Question

Graph data is automatically rounding the numbers, why?

Hi. I'm creating a bar graph in illustrator as I have many times, however, when I enter my data in the fields, illustrator is automatically rounding the numbers. I really need these numbers to be exact. Is there a way to change this format?

Thanks Ann, that unfortunately did not work. I had my settings as you showed above. An example would be: I type in 9743461000 (9,743,461,000) but the chart automatically changes it to 9743460000.

Thanks

Jen

Ah, thanks, I see now what you needed to clear. Well, it's a problem of a program realization of big numbers.

Illustrator uses for big numbers in Graph data (more than 5 digits) the representation of numbers in normalized exponential form (e.g. 9,743461000*(10**9))

Normally it's not a problem. For instance, in Excel, you can set how many digits after a point you want to use. But Illustrator uses a half-precision form of the floating-point representation. It's a 5-digit decimal form (5 digits after a point). If you have 6 or more digits (like in your sample), they are cut by the program. So, unfortunately, I'm afraid that you can't use such a little difference between your values
