Graph in pdf report / click to see data

I'm creating a financial report using Illustrator and InDesgn. The graphs are created using Illustrator's graph tool. 

I'm trying to find a way that will allow someone to click the graph in the pdf report, and this will take them to an online version of that graph where they can see all of the data points accurately. Often there are too many data points in the graph to nicely display this on the pdf, but if they could hover over the line on the online version then this might allow them to see the actual data?

You can add the links in Acrobat.

Create text with the link in Illustrator (you can hide it behind the graph).

Create the PDF

In Acrobat go to Tools > Links and Auto Create Web Links.

Save the PDF

InDesign allows you to set links natively window >> interactive >> hyperlinks

I prefer using InDesign to set me links, as everytime you have a revision you don't have to repeat the process in Acrobat to add a link. https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/hyperlinks.html

Very important you need to turn on hyperlinks here

This used to be on by default, but this is now off by default on Mac Catlina running current version fo InDesign & Acrobat.
