Group edit compound paths?

I have had to import a plot from pdf to edit (the data isn't available on its own). However, there are 1000s of data points, so editing each individually is nearly impossible. The data points show as compound paths, with a few points in each 'path' (pictured). I would like to change the shape of all of these from diamonds to circles. Is there a way to do this easily, so I don't have to just add a new point over every single existing point?

Actually, I have figured it all out, but thank you! I released all of the compound paths, then used 'Select Similar Objects' and then effect -> convert to shape to get circles. Then to resize I used object -> transform -> transform each.

can you share a file to play with? it doesn't have to be the whole file, if you can make a subset that would be enough

is releasing the compound paths an option?
