Hi there,

I need to group my text and drop shadow so they are BOTH in front of the yelow image.   Right now, the drop shadow is behind the yellow image and the text is in front of the image......what am I doing wrong???

Thanks!

Correct answer Brad @ Roaring Mouse

Yup.  In fact, almost all of the effects other than Normal, Darken, or Multiply will do this

I think Kurt is right, the Screen Blending mode for the Drop Shadow can cause this.

In case this is a live drop shadow effect, what blending mode is set in the Drop Shadow dialog?

Does it change when you set it to "Normal", for example?

Can you please show what's in the Layers panel?

Yes thanks here you go.....I'm sorry I'm not super experienced.   I just can't figure out why the drop shadow is not on top of the image like the text is.........I capture the text (with shadow), go to arrange and bring to front and it's just not working like it always does.....I don't work with drop shadows alot though....or pay much attention to layers.....I'm missing something.....

It's indeed quite weird. So maybe i is some kind of preview issue. But if View > Preview on CPU does not solve it, could you then perhaps share the AI file?

You would need to change the file extension to. pdf and then you can upload it in the forum.
