I will make a template with the dimensions 600 cm width and 425 cm high? how do i do it when the workspace is smaller. this should be printed later on at the printing company
I'll create a template. The width of the legs is 125cm. The circle has a diameter of 175cm.
Total width 6m and height 4m (425cm to the top of the circle).
How do i do? need help now.
Stephan,
I believe the simplest and most accurate way is to work at 1:10, simply creating the artwork in mm instead of cm, which will be the exact same numbers/values, then just inform the printer to scale up; you may ask them for (further) specifics to make sure everything works out.
If you use raster effects, remember to set the Effect>Document Raster Effects Settings to 10 times the required resolution at the final size.
The size of any possible raster images will be unaffected, the just need to

Hi.
It seems to me that you're wondering about what to do when the dimensions of a print are actually much larger than your Illustrator workspace. Fact is, it doesn't matter. As long as everything is vector, it scales up forever, without losing quality.
Just make sure everything is even. You say your template should be 600 cm x 425 cm? make it 600 pixels x 425 pixels. Or 6000 x 4250.
I hope I did not misunderstood your question.
Cheers

Another question,
When I use the pen tool and have it set to cm, the drawing surface is not enough because it should be over 400 cm. How do I most easily make a template?

Stephan (or is it actually Stephane?),
That is just the case I was referring to in post #2: you can just work in mm and use the exact same numerical values, no calculation needed, this is the 1:10 scale.

The best we do in cases like that is to divide the measurements by 2.
You can write the right measurements in the file or you can save it as PDF to use the Adobe Acrobat Measure Tool
