Help with clipping mask in a logo?

Nuevo aquí ,
May 07, 2018 May 07, 2018

Okay, so I am fairly inexperienced/rusty with using Illustrator but finished a logo for a friend but she is having trouble uploading it to her website due to the file size I believe.

Here is step by step what I've done to create said logo:

-Created outlines of text and grouped a small image with the logo

-placed logo above a larger image that I am using to fill text with

-create clipping path on logo

-select logo and larger image and create clipping mask

At this point the logo is exactly as I want it but I can't seem to flatten the artwork so it's simplified if that makes sense. Is there an easy way I can make the PNG I've sent her a smaller file? I am pretty lost as to what to do or even explain the situation entirely because I'm a newbie essentially.

Can someone walk me through a solution suuuuper step by step, I'd be very grateful!

Here is the logo:

We need an exact description of this trouble.

It may be a couple of things (including inexperience)

Lindsey,

What happens if you (try to) create the PNG as suggested in post #3?

Lindsey,

As I (mis)understand it, you can just Save for Web which is now hidden away in:

File>Export>Save for Web (Legacy)

With that you can set the actual pixel x pixel size (or one for each use), specify it in the Image Size window.

Make sure you use PNG24/32 for  true large gamut colour.

It is crucial to create the raster images at the exact pixel x pixel size that they are used at.

I have the image saved as a PNG-24 through the save for web and devides. I am also currently running CS5, I probably should have mentioned that in my post. I am going to try adjusting the pixel size so that it’s smaller while constraining the proportions and send that to her and see if that helps?

When she goes to upload the logo I think it’s just cropping a majority of the lettering out, I’m not sure if there’s a way she can just resize it within the website editor but I dont really know anything about that or what she’s using.

Lindsey,

For every use of a PNG on a website there is an exact pixel x pixel size, and you have to create that in order to obtain a clear and crisp image (or you will get something blurry/visibly pixelated, or crop it in hopeless ways.

I believe the best way forward would be to ask your friend for that/those size(s); she may yet have to find out.

Do you know where she would find the pixel x pixel size needed?

Hi

As it is on my MBP the logo look fine.

Well, the site is definitely not Mobile and Responsive friendly. The div's elements are fix size.

What I saw is the original logo is 1676px x 132px, and it's container div's is 858px x 66px. (original logo is 2x of intended)

So, if someone resize the browser window smaller than 858px wide, the logo get cutoff, because the site is not responsive.

You might consider using a responsive framework, like Wordpress + Thesis framework. (exemple)

Nice photos work there.

Pierre
