Hi, I'm trying to create an envelope distort with top object, despite my top object being a single path, I'm being given the message - This path requires a selection of multiple objects. The top object must be a single path or mesh, or a symbol containing a single path or mesh. Does anyone have ant ideas to get around this?
Bless your soul! I was going crazy trying to figure it out. I could draw a rectangle and put a simple word like 'the' and it would display the error message. After reading your response, I sent the text to the back and brought the shape forward and it did the trick. Thank you!

The upper part looks great. You might have too many points in the lower part. Also there is one thing you need to know about envelopes: https://youtu.be/aIqGHoLPuuE The video is about meshes, but the same applied to envelopes.

Kyle, for the lower part, I used Envelope>Make with Warp. Arc Lower
I then tweaked the anchors.

I am learning all this as I go so this is much appreciated. That is exactly what I am trying to do. One question; can you fix the anchor points after you wrap the text or do you do it before? I massed around with it yesterday but ran out of time, about to give it another go. I ended up doing it over a few times yesterday as I struggled to edit it after the text wrapped. I figured out anchor points were the solution to my problem, just have not sat down to figure it out yet. Much appreciated.

Some points need to be fixed in advance (it's in my video)
Other points can be fixed afterwards.

It says you need to select 2 objects. You only selected one.

Please show your objects. Make sure the Layers panel with the objects in it is visible in the screenshot.
