Good Day! I recently installed Adobe Ill. on a new computer. I am having a issue with changing the text size. When I box text and drag the corner to increase the size it reverts back to the original size. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks for the comments. I actually called customer support. They had me change file names within the AI folder. Told me my preferences were causing the issue.

You may be "scaling" while using the "text" tool. This will scale the box but not the text. Try hitting "E" (Free Transform) and click-n-drag a corner. This should scale both the box AND the text.

What is your text?
It's text or text box?
If you use text box - you cannot scale text via dragging. If you use text (simple text) you can.
Try to convert your text to Direct text double clicking small rectalngle shown right of text frame
maybe it helps

Yes you can. Just use the "Free Transform" (e) tool instead of the "Text" (t) tool when dragging the corner.
Another way is to use the "Scale" tool (s). Just be careful to select both the text AND the text box if you want the text to scale both text and box. The scaling center will default to the center of the rectangle, but this can be change to ANY location by clicking a new "center of scaling" before click-n-dragging with the Scale tool (this was the ONLY way to do it… back in the day).

Check what kind of type you have. If it's Point (Direct) type, you can use Selection Tool (V) to scale your text. If it's Area Type, you have to choose Free Transform tool (E) like rcraighead suggests
