Hide the layer & zoom in
Why hiding the layer zooms in the layer?

You video shows no zooming in, your artboard edge is still in exactly the same place.
All you are doing by hiding the one and only layer in the document is a document with nothing to display, so it shows the artboard and canvas as one item. What were you hoping to see?
