I agree with Bill about not using Image Trace for this.

One thing that has not been mentioned is using the newish Mirror Repeat instead of drawing half and reflecting it. It came out on the iPad first, but is also available in Illustrator for desktop.

Illustrator’s pen tool it the power tool of the program. There are many tutorials on Lynda or Youtube on how to master it.

Hi @Daisy25324001aihd,

Thanks for reaching out. In addition to Doug's suggestion, you can use the image trace to recreate this, and late can give it a finishing touch using the pen tool. Also, you can use the pen tool all the way through to replicate it, but that is very time-consuming and need a lot of patience & precision.

I hope this helps!

Just a note about the image trace feature that Anshul suggested. It does not usually do a very precise job of tracing. Also, the finished result (after expanding it) will be a multitude of clipping paths and compound paths which an inexperienced user may have a lot of trouble editing.

The fact is that Illustrator is a drawing tool only. It does require some skill with the available drawing tools in order to create precise drawings.

You would draw one half, then reflect it. You might draw only the first and last 'petal' and then use a blend to fill in the rest, but as there are so few strokes it might be just as quick to eyeball it.

What have you tried so far? Where are you getting stuck?
