How can I use SVG format in "Illustrator CS6"?

I am using the "Illustrator CS6" and I have some questions below,

1. What is different between "Save as..." and "Export..." under file manu.

2. I save a image as AI file and save the image as SVG file again. The size of images are different between AI and SVG files.

How can I set the "SVG option" to keep the original size of AI image?

Save as: native file formats (Illustrator achieves this with a trick, because the only native file format is AI)

    Export: non-native file formats

As for the different sizes: please be a bit more precise. What is your problem?

    Hello again,

If you use Illustrator CC version, can you open AI file and export the file type as SVG (File => Export => SVG) to check the size, font & color of image?

How can I send AI file to you?

As I said there are a couple of possibilities to export this.

I'm on a tight deadline at the moment and can't test all this.

Maybe you can find someone else.

Would probably be best to upload your file to Dropbox or the like and post a link in this forum.

You can also install a trial version to test this.

    Thank you for feedback.

I am making Service manual in Volvo Construction Equipment and explain how I create a image in our manual briefly.

First, I create a image in illustrator CS6 and save the image as AI file. (File => Save as)

Second, I export the image as wmf, jpg, tif and etc...(File => Export)

Third, I import the image into our authoring system. (Exported image: wmf, jpg, tif and etc...)

Finally, I publish the image into service manual.

These day, I investigate svg (scalable vector graphic) image to implement our authoring system. However, I have faced below questions,

    Question 1)

There is no svg under "Export (File=>Export)" and is there any way to export svg from Illustrator CS6?

    Question 2)

There is svg under "Save as (File=>Save as)". If I save a image as svg and import to authoring system, the size of image, font, location of image and color are mass up. When I use the exported files (wmf, jpg, tif and etc...), I don't have that kind of problems. I think I should know what is different between native and non native format.

Do you know what is different between them?

All formats need to be interpreted by the system reading them.

For the SVG format this support is still a little wonky.

Also Illustrator might make mistakes when writing it (I don't know how complex your drawing is). Illustrator has trouble with clipping masks and might not write them in a way the receiving system expects them. SVG format is still being improved and you are using an old version.

You might want to test different SVG options (there are several).

And of course you can't compare SVG to JPG or TIF or other raster based formats.
