How can you group objects on different layers in Adobe Illustrator?

I want them to remain of different layers, without Illustrator having to move them to the same layer automatically.

Yes, I would like that, too.

There is a workaround by using Save Selection, but it's not as effective.

This way, you will keep getting all the updates related to this feature request, and other users can also upvote, which would help us prioritize. In addition, this is the best way of communicating with the Engineering and Product Management teams regarding issues and suggestions so they can be implemented in future releases.
