How do I insert a jpeg image into an Adobe Illustrator document?

Just trying to learn how to do some basic things in ai.  Unfortunately the "tutorials" are more advertisements to spend more money than they are actual help.  Should be fairly simple to insert an image, but I don't see how to do it.  Any help would be appreciated.
