How do I recolour the dot above an 'i'?

Hi, I'm having trouble selecting/isolating and recolouring the dot above an 'i' in Illustrator. Any help offered would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks.

    You will need to convert the text to paths by outlining it. Then release the compound path and maybe also a group. Open the layers panel to inspect the artwork.

    You can also use a dotless i and a dot (check if your font has those glyphs in the Glyphs panel) and use the Touch Type tool (Shift T) to move the dot above the i.

    (but creating outlines is easier)

    Thanks Ton! I ended up doing this, but would've been interested to figure out the outlines method too.

    Object > Compound path > Release
