How do I reuse a pattern swatch I created?

I just created a pattern and saved it to my swatch. I was under the assumption every time I create a new document and want to re-use that custom pattern, it wuld be in the swatches, but I created a new doc and I'm not seeing that custom pattern.

How I do I save that custom pattern so I can re-use it whenever I want?

Thx

Create a Library and add a sample of your pattern to it. You can then use Place Copy from the Library to move the pattern into your new document. When you do so, it will be added to that document's swatches.
