Keep in mind that the Document Info panel currently fails to list fonts if they are used in symbol instances, brushes, envelopes, for example.

In those cases the Type menu > Find Font dialog is more reliable. You can also export a list from there.

The issue is I have to physically click onto the font in order for it to tell me in the document window what it is.

I'm looking for a tool similar to InDesign - Just go to a window and it automatically gives me a summary of ALL the fonts embedded in the AI file. This is a HUGE file I'm dealing with that contains lots of different fonts.

Not a feature?

So I just realized you have to 'Select All' (Command-A) on the artboards in order for the fonts to appear in Document Info window. Also making sure 'Unlock All' is done before doing so.

You do not have to select anything. Make sure Selection Only is unchecked.

But, yes the default is with Selection Only checked.
