When i change it on "document setup" menu, it applies only to the open document.

i want to change it for good.

And.. is there any way to batch change all quotes from Typographer’s quotes to strait quotes at one click?

Thanks 🙂

You can create a document where you change the quote preference in the Document Setup > Type.

Save it on your desktop with a name you will recognize.

Copy the saved file into the Illustrator application folder > Support Files > New Document Profiles > your language folder

Create new documents based on this profile.

I cannot find any other way to shut off the "Smart" quotes than through the Document Setup which is only accesible with a document open. However, you can change the Curly quotes to Straight using Edit>Find and Replace... In the Find field choose first the Double Left Quotation Mark  option from the pull-down as shown. Then in the Replace With field type a quote (a straight quote will appear here even if Typographer's Quotes is turned on for the document). Then click the Replace All button. All left quotes will be replaced. Then repeat this for the Double Right Quotation Marks.
