Question

How to create a png file from Adobe Stock AI/EPS file # 846938993

Hi

I am using CS6 (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign). I've bought Adobe Stock File #:  846938993 and downloaded it as an AI/EPS file. It is a set of gleaming lighting effects, one of which I want to extract and use in an InDesign file to add a gleam to large gold text.

Please can someone very kindly explain how I can extract one of the lighting effects from File #:  846938993 and create a file that I can 'place' into my InDesign file?

I presume I should be aiming to create a png file (one with a transparent background).

In the last 10 years I have created thousands of png files in Photoshop and placed them in InDesign files, but I do not know how to create a png using File #:  846938993 in Illustrator.  (I've spent an hour trying to work out how, for instance by fiddling around with the layers, but failed!!)

I have intermediate skills in InDesign and Photoshops, but my Illustrator skills are pretty basic.

I would be very grateful of all advice. Thank you.

Forget about doing that with a PNG or an EPS.

What you have to do is delete that checkered background from the file.

Then save it as an AI file with "PDF compatibility" and then place that in InDesign. But this is will only work if your InDesign file has the transparency flattening color space set to RGB.

Thank you. Monika.

I will try that tomorrow.

Have a lovely weekend.
