How to create Gradients in Illustrator

Hi! 

I'm new at illustrator so don't be to hard on me. I wonder how this is created? Are they using something special in illustrator? It is 2 diffrent people and I have seen more doing like this. So it has to be something special they use?

Swatches Panel menu: Gradients > Metals?
