how to divide and distribute ?

Hi. I am trying to divide this work in 4 pieces where the red lines are, then I want to distribute evenly but 1/2".   I was to print out and slash it and spread it  and then rejoin at the 1/5" and then retracing to create new pattern piece .   How do I do this in adobe illustrator .

Could be as simple as using the scissors tool with the automatic snaps enabled. Not sure what more you would need to know here.
