How to draw new shape with an automatic fill of the previous shape in Illustrator?

I previously had this setting in my other computer but now it's gone in my new laptop and its driving me nuts trying to find it!

I was able to uncheck something which allowed me to draw new shapes using the pen tool and it automatically fills in the colour with the colour/properties of a previous shape I drew. So if I drew a pink circle and that circle is highlighted, I would go ahead and draw another one, that next one would be pink as well. Now with this default setting, I can only draw a circle with no fill no stroke, fill it in with a colour or stroke and while it's highlighted, I would drawn another circle but the properties would be the default setting, just the path with no colour no stroke.

Helppppppp!!!~~~

There's no need to reset the preferences for that.

Just open Window > Appearance and in the panel menu turn off "New art has basic appearance"

Which version of Illustrator are you using ?

Try to reset the preferences settings,  Go to Preferences -> general , Click on Reset Preferences then Restart illustrator

So it's still the circles when this is happening? Or something else?

Did you already reboot the computer?

If it's still not working, then try resetting the preferences. But afterwards turn off "New art has basic appearance"
