Question

How to export or save SVG file without any images or extra elements in Illustrator?

Hello,

I have created a few icons which are saved as SVG. Some of them are all vector (filename: guides) but some have image elements in them (filename: reels, igtv). How do I remove or edit in such a way that all of them are vector? I haven't done anything different for the second set of icons. Please help!

Thanks.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. In addition to the suggestion shared by @Mylenium, you can also try exporting the selected elements as a single asset. By doing this, you won't get any other image elements in your exported SVG file.

Follow the steps on this attached screenshot:

You can always edit out extraneous data in a text editor. Otherwise simply remove the reference images before exporting, but save the cleaned up AI file as a separate copy beforehand so AI uses the new data structure.
