How to identify open paths in Illustrator

New Here ,
Feb 10, 2021 Feb 10, 2021

Hello, I am trying to recreate a repeating pattern swatch with a number of motifs in Illustrator. Its not working so I started removing individual motifs to test. It looks like some of the motifs are what are the issue, but I don't know what is wrong with them. Someone told me it could be that they have open paths. Is there a way to test a design for open paths? Please help!

Do you use the Pattern maker in Illustrator?

What do you mean by "its not working"?

If the open paths are the problem (they should not) this may help:

At the risk of being overly simplistic and obvious, I have to ask: are you sure that all these items were unlocked and selected when you created the pattern? And Ton is correct, there is should be no reason for open paths to cause a problem.

And may I ask your method for creating the pattern?

Thanks,
Peter
