Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing. I would like to know if the steps suggested above by @pixxxelschubser @Ko.Maruyama worked for you? If not, I would request you to share a few more details along with the ones asked by @pixxxelschubser:

  • Exact OS & version of Illustrator
  • Is the issue related to a specific PNG? If yes, could you please share the PNG with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
  • A small video of your workflow, including layers panel, export settings, could be really helpful.

Regards,

There are probably some errant pixels in your (raster image) PNG file.  The converstion recognized them and tried to create the vector values that included those anti-aliased (non-absolute) pixels.

There are a few things you can do to get a better SVG

  • Clean the PNG file in Photoshop before converting
  • Create your own paths using pen tool (magnet pen should work fine)
  • Clean the paths generated by the original trace.
  • Change settings in Image Trace before you release/expand it to paths

What does your artwork look like in Outline View [Ctrl/Strg]+[Y] ?

Have you already tried [Ctrl/Strg]+[E] ?

(toggle between Preview on GPU/CPU)
