how to make a custom font

I have a customer that wants 2 custom fonts lower case and caps. And im way over my head. please help

You've never done it?

You can of course use Illustrator to draw glyphs and then use FontSelf Maker (a commercial third party plugin) to make them into a font. You can also use it to adjust the negative space and such, but there are a lot of things to watch out for when making a font, so probably it would be a good idea to partner with an independent font designer.

If you want to investigate what needs to go into it, you will find a lot of tutorials on the Fontself website https://help.fontself.com/en/articles/889013-tutorials

There are other font editors as well, such as FontForge (Opensource), Birdfont (low priced) or Glyphs. All of them have tutorials so you can get a glimpse of what needs to be done when designing a font.
