How to make smooth curves with Adobe Illustrator pen tool?

Question

My pen tool doesn't work smoothly—I feel gaps and qaurkiness while pointing it from one point to another. It's less curvy and uncomfortable to work with. I tried tolerance under the preference but still the same issue.
Any ideas?

Hi there,

Sorry about the delay. I am hopeful that the issue is resolved by now. If not, for Curves it's best to use Curvature tool, however, if you wish to draw curves with Pen tool, here are few tips and tricks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eE2JQwUkoM
