How to make weaved objects 3d.

New Here ,

Working on trying to make a Celtic not 3d. Applied the Extrude and Bevel, however since the object is weaved it creates those weird edges. Wanting it to look like pipes that are weaved, So I want those that are in the back to have a "united," uniform look, however I cant simply "unite," the paths since that would cancel the weave look. Any Help would be nice!

Try building them as single tubes and then masking them. But actually you might want to use a real 3D application for this kind of job

Nick,

What happens if you just use a stroked path with a gradient across or a corresponding Art Brush (based on a blend)?
