I'm working on an art piece where I have used the warp arc effect which has given me an upper arc of my image. I would like to reflect this to get a ring or 2d torus but when I use the mirror or rotate tool, the arc shape transforms and becomes skewed. Is there a way that I can fix my arc shape so it doesn't distort when I mirror or rotate it?
Any help with this is much appreciated! Thank you.
Elizabeth,
Always create a backup of artwork you are about to change irreversibly.
Object>Expand Appearance will turn it into a regular path.
Can we see a screenshot?
You could if you don't want to expand appearance, use the transform effect instead of transforming with the tools.

For my part you are welcome, Elizabeth.
I saw a regular path as a way for exact transformation (Smart Guides being your friends) regardless of the amount of bend.
I believe that you have chosen a full 100% bend.
In this connexion it may be relevant to consider the following, if you have the choice (unless you wish/need to have just two halves):
A 100% bend is actually overdoing it at the upper left and right with bulging there, as you can see if you compare the arc with a corresponding circle (a slightly larger one moved into place).
You get a shape much closer to a true circle with a 50% bend

The easy way is to copy and flip object with "flip horizontally/vertically/ icon in property panel. Be sure to then move object.
