How to outline a png image

Hello everyone

So for a poster i needed a logo on the poster but i wanted to change the colors of it. So my teacher showed me a way to like outline it so that i could chage the color of each individual letter or like object. I kinda forgot how to do it so could someone help me please.

OPen the Image trace panel and then select the image and click on black and white. Afterwards Expand and use the live paint tool to color it
