How to put Overbars on a text

I am new to Adobe illustrator. I have a figure and I need to put overbars on the text. For example z with a bar over it. Please help how to do that?

Are you talking about glyphs for certain fonts? Or a line over the entire line of text? If you are talking about glypgs, go to Type>Glyphs and find the font that you are working with.

Thank you for giving information about Glyphs! I have a figure of eps format. I think Glyphs will help but there are texts with superscript and subscripts. I would like to put bars over each letter. I am trying glyphs but its not reflecting when I do select the option u and a bar - overhead of letter.
