How to reduce large AI file to less than 10mb to email; for tshirt printing

Okay gurus!

I have a large (60MB) AI vector graphic that I need to send to our T-shirt printer. It is extremely detailed (not my fault but the original artist). No, pdf or eps will not do as they need it in layers, so it has to stay in AI vector format. What can I do to reduce the file size to less than 10MB (that's what our limit of outgoing mail.)

Thanks!

Margi

    Don't reduce the file size.

Instead, upload the full size file to a service like Dropbox (you can store up to 5 Gb for free!) or the asset storage area of your Creative Cloud account (assets.adobe.com) and use the Share feature of either service to create a link to the file which you can send to your printer.

The days of trying to email big files (or damaging them by trying to shrink them too small) are over.

In case you ever need to, you can save top level Illustrator layers when saving a PDF.

In the PDF, you can expand the Layers panel.

There is a visibility column to the left of the layer name. You can print the layers separately by hiding all but one layer. When you print from the PDF, whatever is visible will print.

I'm not really sure how this would work for a screen printer. It's multi layered, very detailed.

Thanks Steve! I'll try the Cloud Share.
