Question

How to separate strokes from overlapping shapes

Hello, what is the quickest way to REMOVE the blue strokes/outlines leaving ONLY the green, exactly as shown in the attached file, in Illustrator?
My file is vector. Shapes are overlapping.
So far, I have tried converting the blue strokes to outlines then making a compound shape, but when I do this the outlines come to the front covering some of the green.

Is there a simple way to accomplish this?

A knockout group can do this.

Select all Blue strokes.

In the Appearance panel change the opacity to 0%.

Select All and Group.

Select in the Opacity options > Knockout Group.

Not all applications like Knockout Groups.

You may want to use Object > Flatten Transparency...

Direct Select the resulting outer paths and use Select > Same > Fill and Stroke and delete the selection.

Pathfinder Unite and Simplify path can clean it up some more.
