How to trim multiple lines simultaneously?

Is there a way to trim multiple lines with a shape?

(I need to draw a series of many isometric grids and would like a way to clean up the lines that extend beyond the page {but would prefer *not* to use a clipping mask})

for example, you can draw a rectangle with a page size, select it and all the lines that are extend. Then use Shape Builder tool (move it above the extended parts of the lines holding down Alt key). When all unwanted lines will removed, delete the rectangle.

Thanks - I wasn't too familiar with the Shape builder tool - so this was quite helpful.

You can make the gridlines, put them on a locked layer and use View > Trim View to hide the lines outside the artboard.

Use Smartguides to snap to the lines. Guides will disappear.

Thanks! I like this method ("View > Trim View to hide the lines outside the artboard") as well it's quick, easy... at least for the way I *think* while using Illustrator ; )

Will there be crossing lines in your grid?
