I would like to be able to have a colleague work on the .ai same file as me. The problem is the file many linked images. Is there a way for me to send him the file as well as a folder containing all of the linked images and have the images show up in the file where they are supposed to be without having to relink everything individually?
If necessary, I would be willing to re-build the file from scratch if there is some better way to save the linked files so that they are retrievable on other computers.
I do not want use embedded images.
Thanks!
Hi,
You can package the file. You can the option in File > Package. What this will do is save the ai file and links in a same folder. Then you can easily share the folder around.

Generally speaking, if you have an Illustrator file and you have linked files and you keep the structure the same, it should work if you open the Illustrator file on another computer if that computer also has the folder of linked files. I would come up with a structure that would work for me for consistency - maybe:
Folder:
illustrator file
Subfolder Images (all linked images)
If the folder remains intact, regardless of the computer it is moved to, the Illustrator file should open and all linked files should open just fine.
