How would I go about about recreating this ribbon effect?

New to Illustrator, taking logo design classes. 🙂 Tried using blend modes, splines etc. but everything ends up tubular. It seems to have a set width like a stroke but how it folds over and blends within its stroke profile is beyond me.

Draw the individual shapes and fill each with an appropriate gradient to give the ribbon effect.

Don't use strokes. You need shapes for this.

Here's a similar design: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCAuVb9RDlI

Fill this kind of thing with gradients instead of solid colors and you get your design

DjMrEon, Hi

To add to what has already been mentioned, here is a file with separate filled color paths.

Create some gradients. Fill each shape with a gradient.

To adjust your gradient, use the Gradient tool.

Add a small weight stroke to each shape, I just use a light brown.

At the end, I Grouped and rotated -45 angle.
