I can't move the object in AI

Hello everybody,

I have a problem with Illustrator. Suddenly, I can't move objects. I click on the arrow and I select the object, but it doesn't move. Probably I clicked some options, but I do not understand which options.

Could you help me ?

It works ! there was a problem with OS. I updated it and now it works.

I just have the case. Some text on an imported image, while the image was open in Photoshop, where selectable but stucked un place.
My solution: I closed Photoshop, then the text in Illustrator can move again.

I have the same problem — but not due to OS being out of date.
Any advice on how to fix?

Since you obviously don't have the same problem as the person in this ancient thread, please create a new thread and describe your problem, your system, your Illustrator version.

Hmm. Sorry, I am new here. But it does seem like the same problem to me.

Just like OP, suddenly, I can't move objects either. I click on the arrow and I select the object, but it doesn't move.

nothing to do. I am getting crazy. I select the object, the photo, etc. but I can't move them. I press ctrl+alt+2, the imagine is not larger than canvas and the layer are not locked. Untill yesterday, everthing worked well. I don't understand. I tryed to unistall the software and install again. Nothing, it doesn't work.

The problem you describe is the same I got for the first time with the AI 2019. For some reason it changed back after 2-3 months of using the software. I tried to solve the issue in any manner I could think of.

Yesterday this issue came back, but now with AI 2020 instead. The only thing that I can recall happend when this matter occured was that Photoshop crashed minutes before this problem once again came back.

I was in the middle of a major illustration for a customer and used both software's to accomplish my order when suddenly from working just fine for 4-5 months I could no longer move objects with the black selection arrow. It workd just fine to select objects and to turn and twist them but moving them is out of the question. There's only two ways for me to move objects in AI at the moment, either use the keyboard or the Free transformation tool.

I run AI on Windows 10 and I haven't got any major updates during last session of illustrating with AI.
