i can't see button "Search for missing links in this folder option on adobe illustator

Hey everyone,

I need help with this issue: I can't see the "Search for missing links in this folder" option in Adobe Illustrator to do it.. I'm sure I updated to version 28.05 via Adobe Creative Cloud. What can I do?

You are probably trying to replace to a different image instead of relink to the existing missing one..

The relinking works with that feature, the replacing does not.

I updated Adobe illustrator to 29.2.1 and "Search for missing links in this folder" checkbox is missing on "Place" window when I trying to change any missing link from the folder.

It was very useful option for define folder after opening files with missing links.

Please bring it back.

I don't see the option anymore neither. Even in the steps described above here, second screenshot for instance, I don't get the option. Even resetting all my preferences, caches etc. didnt' make ik work. Im working with the 29.3.1 version of Illustrator.

Thanks for reaching out. Illustrator now automatically searches for other missing files in the same folder and relinks them. When opening an AI file with missing links, you will need to choose the option for replace:

Then, after selecting the correct file, you will need to check the box for "Search for Missing Links in this folder" and then click on the Replace button:

If you have the file already open, go to the Window menu to open the Links window, and choose the Relink button to relink your images.

And then check the box for "Search for Missing Links in this folder" before relinking the file again:
