Question

I deleted files and Illustrator isn't working anymore!

I deleted several files from my macbook because I was already running out of space.

I don't know if I deleted any tool or file that made illustrator work and now I can't use it. I can't start a new file or anything.

I already deleted and installed it several times and it still doesn't work. Does anyone know what I could have done? HELP!

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I would like to know if uninstalling the whole Creative Cloud using the CC Cleaner tool worked for you, as suggested above by @Monika Gause. If not, I would request you to share a few more details like:

  • OS and version of Illustrator
  • Do you recall from which location or folder you deleted the files?
  • Are there any other recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, plugins, or web extensions installed recently.

Also, you may try running the app in Safe Mode  (Mac) & Root account (Mac). Let us know how it goes.

We will be looking forward to your response.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini

What were the files?

If they are still in trash

right click on file >> put back

check as thy may have been locked and still there

YOu might need to go the long route and uninstall completely, then run the Adobe Cleaner tool, then reinstall.

Just in case you uninstalled system fonts (even if they are of languages that you don't know and think you don't need), you might need to reinstall the system.

Just don't delete things from the system if you don't know exactly what you're doing.
