I have saved my illustrator file as PDF and many files are missing since then

Where did you save the file?

Where are the linked images located?

Which version of Illustrator on which system is this?

There was a text placed there

So I have saved it on PDF format for printing purpose on my mac 

This is the latest version of Illustrator 28.6

And you opened the PDF in Acrobat?

Yes I have and openend the same PDF on illustrator and since then the issue began

Is there any way to recover them

Have you kept the original .ai document, and can you recreate from that?

I have one version of it saved but most of the changes have been made to the latest version which was done of PDF format that has the above mentioned error

Beyond the current issue, it is safer to always work in and thereby keep the latest artwork (a)live in the AI version, and only save a copy as PDF when you are done.

I have done that as well but the issue remains the same. Is there any solution for that
