Question

I just updated to Illustrator CC 2017, and am now experiencing severe gradient banding.

I have never experienced this issue with any Adobe app, and have been a loyal Adobe Customer for 5+ years.

I've tried exporting as jpg, pdf, almost every option avail, etc. Every export (except for pdf) shows the banding. It displays on different computers and operating systems as well.

I've spent 5+ hours on the phone live with Adobe support (sounds like they're in India). They can't or resolve, or escalate any further according to them.

So friends, I'm at my wits end. I have never experienced this problem before the update. And don't know what to do. I feel like I'm basically painted in a corner. And have no option but to look for a software elsewhere.

Anyone out there have any experience resolving this? Please help.

What are your color stop values? Whenever you do s small change in color over a long distance you will see banding. Is the physics of how our eyes work, which you could add some noise or spatter.

Now if you open your file in CS6 and this gets lessened, then we could look at you color settings or other, but what I see is quite normal.

Thanks for the response. We've reverted back to previous versions of Illustrator with Adobe support actually controlling my computer remotely.

I (and our company) was previously using CC 2015 and never saw this banding, it didn't matter the color values. We're using macs and PC.

The last adobe rep (again- someone in India probably, which is fine) said he was a "Senior Manager." He tested for the banding on their end with a macbook they had. He said that they aren't getting problem. He then saved his display profile (.icc file). Then emailed it to me, updated my mac with the same profile... and still the same problem. So now he's saying a problem with the graphics card. Or, in other words, 4 seperate graphics cards on 4 seperate computers that are all exhibiting the same problem

I can't believe that you didn't experience any banding with gradients such as the one shown in your intial post.

It's close to improssible to not have banding with that gradient.

Please read this article from the documentation:

Printing gradients, meshes, and color blends in Illustrator

You can only correct the banding afterwards by applying noise to it.
