In need of a simple ai file viewer to open ai email attachmnets.

Download the free Adobe Reader app. If the AI file was saved with PDF compatibility enabled, then it will open in Reader.

Brilliant advice, just opened a 13-year-old .ai file in the PDF Editor app (from Tracker Software).

Views and prints perfectly. Work rescued. What a fantastic job Adobe did with the file format!

There is no (other) AI file viewer; unless the AI file is saved as PDF compatible, in which case you can use Adobe Reader or Acrobat.

If you have Adobe Bridge, you can save the file to your desktop and use Adobe Bridge to view the .AI files. I found this to be very helpful when viewing multiple .AI files

There is nothing available in adobe to view AI file. But there is third party viewer called AI Viewer available. If you install AI Viewer, you can view the AI file and at the same time you can export to BMP, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG format also. I like this and it is very useful if you need the file to view only without the AI license.
