How do I hide the display of Noto fonts in the font list? There are soooo many Noto fonts that show up in Illustrator when previewing fonts in font list. I realize these fonts are needed for system reasons, and that's fine. I just don't need to see them everytime I scroll through my fonts in Illustrator.
Please let me know how I can hide these from view in the Illustrator font menu. Thanks.

Noto fonts are from google, they are not required system fonts, just uninstall them.

Noto fonts are not any system fonts that I know of. You should be able to uninstall them if you are not using them.

They reside here: System/Library/Fonts/Supplemental
If you select any font in this folder, the trash is grayed out. If you drag it out of the folder, it only gets copied to wherever you drag it. Changing permissions in Get Info isn't allowed,

It sounds like you don't like the Noto type family. But how did it wind up installed in your computer? As far as I can tell Noto is not a type family that gets bundled in with any default computer OS setup or any software installation. The type family has to be installed deliberately.

FontExplorer says otherwise
I once installed Noto as it supported many languages which I needed for a design and now they can't be installed — I've seen many people refer to it as a system font which was apparently bundled into macOS Catalina? https://groups.google.com/g/noto-font/c/b3tOQZyZH18?pli=1

It turns out there are versions of Noto included with the latest versions of OSX and iOS: https://developer.apple.com/fonts/system-fonts/
There isn't as many weights included in iOS. These fonts aren't quite the same as the Noto Sans and Noto Serif fonts that can be downloaded from Google Fonts. The OSX/iOS versions appear to be bundled to cover Urdu, Kannada, Javanese, Myanmar and Oriya alphabets.
I don't know why OSX would prevent you from installing the versions of Noto from Google. They appear to cover different languages than the Noto fonts bundled into OSX and iOS.

Yes, a simple "Hide OS Fonts" check box would work great! Simple fix. 😉
