Ice Cream Label Top Object Warp, how to offset distortion?

I've designed a label for an ice cream company that has establised dielines and I've gotten design approval but I need to curve it for the printer. I have the original design file and they have the old labels done flat and then top shape warped them to a 15% bent rectangle but when I follow the same steps the design is distorted, what am I doing wrong?

The old version of the packaging: how was the type done? Do you have the old files? I have seen different versions of dealing with it. You can distort it, you can set type on a curved path or just put a normal text into it (this is only suitable when the container is not too conical, but rather straight.

If the container has a cone shape to it (the circle at the bottom of the container is smaller in diameter than the circle around the lid) the design will have to be warped in a specific arc shape in order to wrap around the container in a level manner. Some distortion will have to be present in the design. The math is kind of tricky to compute how much the arc has to bend.
