Illustrator 2017.0.2

New Here ,
Feb 09, 2017 Feb 09, 2017

The selection tools both black and white will not select an object unless you click directly on the path. If you try selecting or clicking in the middle of the object it will not select it unless you click directly on the path. Having this problem with an older file that has been opened up in the latest Illustrator. I have tried turning on and off different selection preferences and restarting Illustrator to take effect and still have the same problem.

Any Solutions?

It seems the latest Illustrator seems troublesome as I have really never had any problems in the last 18 years of using it.

Hi,

This generally happens when there is no fill applied to the drawn object. Please verify if that is the case with you.

If not, please a demo file with us at ShareWithAI@adobe.com so that we can look into this issue.

Thanks & Regards

Or you could be selecting part of a clipping mask that doesn't overlap with the object being masked.

Yes. Thats what is was. I tried many things. starting, changing preferences, restarting the program to see if changes would take effect thinking it was a bad piece of artwork that I would have to redo. Thanks for solving. Must have overlooked this one.
