Illustrator 2018 Artboard Issues

I've found a couple of issues with artboards in Illustrator 2018:

Anytime the artboard tool is engaged the "align to" is changed to "selection." This is the new default even if it was previously set to "align to artboard." I now have to go back and change this frequently in my work flow.

If you have a list of artboards and try and delete several of them, deleting one will deselect the list. No longer can you click on the trash can and delete multiple artboards in succession.

Hi,

We are looking into "Align To" option issue and to delete multiple artboards you can follow below steps :

1. Select artboard tool

2. Press shift and click on all the artboards that you want to delete(you can also do Shift + drag to marquee select the artboards / select them in artboards panel /  ctrl or cmd + A to select all the artboards)

3. Click delete on artboard panel / control panel / properties panel /keyboard

Result : Selected artboards art deleted. If  all the artboards were selected on

Just saw your video, did not realize selecting an artboard also changed the setting.

Glad i'm not the only one who is having this issue! It's seriously hurting my workflow because I have actions that use Align to Artboard and they do not function properly until I have changed it back to the artboard and not the selection.

You should use "New Artboard" button to do this.

I have this same issue. I use align to artboard much more often than align to selection.

The way I understand the setting is that it was a global setting in previous versions. But with the new functionality it is a document specific setting. So in any document you change the setting it will stay for that document, even after closing the document and opening it again. The problem is that the default setting is align to selection and in order to change a setting to make it a global change you have to change the setting while there are no documents open. There is no access to this panel without a document open, so the default can not be changed. I've had to change my workspace around in order to have faster access to that panel. I would very much like to have Align to Artboard as the default setting.

Also, I'm unable to get snap to pixel working anymore when resizing artboards (grabbing one side of artboard and moving it with mouse) It used to work fine in earlier cc versions. This is very important to me since I do a lot of pixel precise art.

Added: Snap to pixel works fine when drawing a new artboard, but it doesn't when adjusting an existing one.

When can we expect the "align to artboard" issue to be solved? Two updates so far and still no fix on this problem....

I have had the same issue. I have opened the align tool panel and changed the "align to" to Artboard and when opening new artboard the "align to" is staying with artboard.

I can confirm that as of Illustrator 22.1, I no longer experience this bug. I believe it has been fixed.

nitishagarwal123 When will align default fix be implemented in the proper production version?  I can't afford to work with pre-releases and this issue is driving me crazy.

Would I be right in thinking that Artboards no longer snap accurately to anything? I'm trying to resize the edges of artboards to snap to guidelines - they look like they're snapping ("smart guides" shows the object and intersection information popping up) but if I zoom in I can see the artboard edges are some way off where they're supposed to snap. I still use Illustrator CS6 most of the time and that works hunky-dory. I've had to resort to typing in coordinates and dimensions for artboards in order to get 'em where I want 'em. I'm pretty sure earlier versions of CC worked OK. I don't have "snap to pixels" on and can't see what else I might be doing wrong

Is there a way to change default behavior of copy/move artwork with artboard to OFF that is to NOT select all objects?

You could try and set it up that way in your preferred new document profile.
