Illustrator 2020 quits after saving file on macOS

I am not sure what I might be doing wrong.  This has only started with me with the CC2020 verision of the program.  I could be working in illustrator for a bit and when I save my file illustrator will then completely closes on me.  It isnt a crash.  I dont get that warning or popup window saying to give feeback on what happened.  It just... quits.  I am not hitting the command Q.  The only other thing I can think of is I do click on the red X so I can see my desktop but I do that other times and this doesnt happen.  Another thing I have noticed as well is the saving in illustrator is twice as slow as it has ever been.  Is there a new setting that I can adjust that I am not aware of.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing with Illustrator. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  1. The exact version of macOS.
  2. Does it happen with every file or with any specific file?
  3. Is it slow while saving only or in general while working on it?

We're here to help, just need more information.

Regards

1. iMac (Retine 5K, 27-inch, 2017)

    Processor 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5

    Memory 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

Graphics Radeon Pro 570 4 GB

2/3.  No not everyfile.  I am a graphic designer for a Screen print company and my files are not usually detailed so the file sizes are usually a max of 5mb.  I do proofs up for the clients but even those are a max of 10mb.

I do get warnings when it is saving because I forget it takes a little longer than it did and it warns me that it is saving and if I want to cancel the save or not.
