Illustrator 2022 crashing using "inflate"

I've never had a problem until now with Illustrator. I'm running Windows 10 Pro, 32 Gb ram, GeForce RTX 2070, Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz; I've got somewhere around 750 Gb free disk space. And I've never had a problem using any of the effects in Illustrator. Today, it suddenly keeps crashing and running out of memory when I use the 3D and Materials - Inflate effect. I can turn everything else on my computer off, and it still won't render. I can't figure out why all of a sudden. I've restarted the computer, re-started Illustrator, reset Illustrator settings, double-checked my GPU acceleration, and every other setting I can find. I can play any game without issues, yet this crash is now telling me I'm out of memory. Illustrator is the latest version too. Any advice?

Hello @Jerthemuse,

Sorry to hear about this experience. I would request you try updating the GPU drivers and check if it helps. Also, try the steps shared by Monika and share your observations with us.

Looking forward to your response.

Hi Anubhav, the designer who works for me has been trying to do the 3d Inflate process with his computer without success. When the design is pretty small, he is able to render, but when it gets a bit bigger, he keeps getting an error message.   He also tried with a friend's computer, also with 8 gig of RAM.  We both came to the conclusion these computers are too old and don't have the right specs for this program. He's got the newest version of Illustrator.

We are considering getting him a new computer, but I want to be 100% sure that the 3d inflate effect is going to work before we invest in the computer, as that's the reason we would be buying it.   Are you able to say what specs are needed (Windows) for this to work well and with a relatively quick render.

Here are the specs of his old computer:

Device name DESKTOP-GFDAE7T
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)

i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.20 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.89 GB usable)
Device ID 84AE9DF2-64FB-471B-B741-E05026DA0F50
Product ID 00331-10000-00001-AA812
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch Pen support

Here are the specs of one computer we are considering buying:

Ryzen 5 4560G

B450 MotherBoard

32gb RAM DDR4 3200mhz

480gb SSD

RX 580 8gb Video Card

Thank you for any input on this.

8 GB is sufficient to launch Illustrator. But not for 3D stuff.

Does it work when you inflate a simple small rectangle?
